GUESS WHO JUST GOT A NEW PACK OF BLACK PASTEL PAPER?

I can't let a good composition idea escape me without at least an attempt at doing it justice. Even if mister and missus Tuaparang were disappointing as heck and I blame a lot of Dark Dawn's abysmal pacing on them.

In my opinion, there is nothing more intense to a well developed world, which Golden Sun is, than something totally unheard of. This is why I dream of doing a high-fantasy DnD campaign that ends with an alien invasion. This is why escaping from Belinsk gave so many of my friends the jibblies. And oh man, I love the scene in the Konpa ruins cave in front of the vortex when you are talking to Kraden and Nowell and then you turn around to see the soldiers desce- AAAUGH! This feeling was not consistent in Dark Dawn, but the Tuaparang still have plenty of time to redeem themselves if the cliffhanger ending is anything to go by. Unlike Saturos and Menardi at the end of the first game, a lot less is left to the imagination regarding the Tuaparang, which will make bringing them back up a bit harder. I feel like i haven't accomplished anything, nor do I know anything. And that's not the same as being curious. It's sort of frustrating, because I feel like things are arbitrarily being held from me. Like Kraden not telling Karis about who Arcanus was. Redemption is still very possible, though. It can totally be done, and I can't wait to see what happens.

I mean, I don't hate them or anything, and I wish I knew more about Blados in particular. But seriously, something is wrong when there is a giant dirigible full of trained soldiers on standby and the plot is still moving at a snail's pace.

What was I talking about again?
Oh yeah. Drawing. Yeah.

I don't like this black paper as much as my other brand, but the other brand had no black paper. It's still leaps and bounds ahead of construction paper, and it is definitely great for all of the stuff I wanna do against black. This was me fiddling around with the possibilities, as well as getting this composition out of my head.

The smoke coming from Chalis and the sparks coming from Blados are supposed to be suggestions of their attacks (Illusion Perfume and Spark Shuriken respectively). Red needles for Chalis too. It's actually been a bit since I played that battle, and it went by pretty quickly. :B
I know that Chalis doesn't breathe the stuff but it was for composition balance and I thought it looked cool. Plus, can't you imagine her with one of those long cigarette holders? Totally.

Smoke at the bottom not because I have an aversion to drawing feet, but because I wanted the composition to be a certain shape down there.

Also Blados with all of his little armor bits and stuff is hard to draw. Messed up his proportions a bit. And you also might notice that I muffled Chalis' colors a bit by working in blue and purple. I didn't want her to be too PAAANK.

Got a little sloppy towards the end. You see, I'm leaving for college at the crack of dawn tomorrow, and I wanted to get this thing done before then.

I used Prismacolor colored pencils on black pastel paper.

Golden Sun and all of it's contents belong to Camelot and Nintendo. If I do not post a disclaimer with every single picture even though it's fanart, I myself might wake up one morning to a dirigible full of trained soldiers.

Edit: Rant Abridged.
